This year, which started with such promise has become one of trials and more trials for me. My podcast is on hold for now as is my plans to be running for my health. This year I have been working 20 hour days, seven days a week for months at work and when that project finally ended, another took its place. Now I look up at the calendar and it’s December 3rd and as I look back on this year, I can take it in two ways. One way is to say I’ve failed at what I’ve wanted to do this year. The other is to look at it as I have not accomplished my goals yet, but have learned from my experiences and will simply move the dates back and continue on. Of course I chose the latter. I will not quit my goals; I will achieve them! And if you’ve had a rough year, or have not been able to achieve your goals this year, then you should not quit either!
To that end, I’ve changed up my plans somewhat. I’m no longer on Weight Watchers and instead, am simply using myfitnesspal to help keep track of my goals. For my food intake I am logging my intake, be it food or drink and counting calories and nutrients to keep on track. I am tracking my water intake to maintain my wanting to drink at least 64 ounces of water a day. I am using it to track my exercise, although it is simply where I am storing the final result of my exercise. I am using other apps and gadgets to track my actual exercise and movement. More on that later. For my goals, I am looking to drop 100 pounds in ten months, or ten pounds a month. Is it doable? Yes it is, but I suppose a better question is, is it practical and healthy? That is a question I really can’t answer right at this moment as I simply don’t know the answer. But it is the goal I am reaching for.
To that end I have found a website I wanted to share with you that I am using to help me. That website is Healthy Weight Forum. I found this site quite by accident but I’m glad I did. One of the things I am using from this website is the calculators section, including the calories required and the calories burned calculator. Very simple to use and I think one that you should take a look at and place in your toolbox or weight loss. There are a couple of other sites I’m currently looking at, one free one paid, but I want to use them a little more before reporting back to you on them.
So, to get back to resetting the diet goal or losing 100 pounds in ten months, here are the first 15 week’s worth of calorie counts I need to achieve to accomplish this is my time frame.
Now, this is just the diet portion of the plan. I have the exercise part of this as well and that will be my next post. I can tell you that running is still out of the picture as now both knees are giving me fits! I can tell you that I will be doing lots of walking and lots of use on the exercise bike, elliptical and a rowing machine. Weights will come a little later.
